Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators

@ DPAC - Durham, NC

Slash Featuring: Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators (SMCK) are on the road supporting their fourth album 4 released February 11, 2022. They recently made a stop at the beautiful Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, NC.

The DPAC was packed for this show. Rockers seemed happy to get out and see a show without all the Corona protocols in these somber times. The parking garage was filled, and cars were being turned away to find parking elsewhere, and I was there an hour early.

The first thing I noticed when I was looking at the stage set is that drummer Brent Fitz had a small Ukrainian flag in front of his drum kit, and Slash had a large one draped over the top of his guitar speakers, letting everyone know they were supporting Ukraine.

Slash

Now everyone knows who Slash is. He's best described as the Les Paul axeman driving the sound of Guns N’ Roses for almost four decades now. His shredding skills helped push the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

Myles Kennedy

Myles Kennedy on lead vocals hooked up with Slash in 2010, and as a funny note, filled in for crybaby, Axl Rose, at said GnR’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony noted above. Myles is mainly known for his time with Alter Bridge after the passing of singer Scott Wieland in 2003. Myles has released six studio albums with Alter Bridge.

The Conspirators

The members of The Conspirators are kind of the backup musicians from here and there ,like other headliners acts had backup bands such as The Black Hearts, The Heart Breakers, The East Street Band, The Revolution and so on. Quality musicians being sold as third string…

The show was loud and filled with Slash’s renowned riffs and solos complementing Myles' astounding vocals.

Bassist Todd Kerns also performed vocals as the lead man for a song or three.

My memorable moment was when they performed Elton John's Rocket Man with drummer, Brent Fitz, on keyboards. All in all, it was a big show vibrating the walls of the DPAC. Even with my hearing protection, my ears were buzzing after the show.
