RDT dancer, Anabelle Kilbride as Swanhilda. In their 40th Anniversary season, Raleigh Dance Theatre presents their Spring Repertoire on Saturday, May 17th at 7pm, and Sunday May 18th at 2 and 6pm, at Jones Auditorium, Meredith College.
Spring Repertoire features Coppelia Act III, with traditional choreography, staged by Hong Yang. Festival of the Bells is a bright and challenging scene from the classical ballet repertoire. Those who joined us for Coppelia Act I will recognize the Villagers who participate in a grand celebration, uniting Swanhilda and Franz in a happy marriage! Also on the program is RDT's premiere of Carnival of the Animals, choreographed by Artistic Director, Megan Marvel. An impressive parade of the animal kingdom will delight, with a fierce Lion, proud Hens and Roosters, Wild Hemiones, tumbling Asiatic donkeys, an indulgent Tortoise, marching Elephant, boxing kangaroos, an aquarium of vibrant Fish, tow know-it-all Donkeys, a Cuckoo in an aviary of Birds, and an elegant Swan. Rounding out the program is a piece by guest artist, Ilya Koz. Achoo Allegro, A Sneeze Serenade in G Major is a playful take on Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. From Regional Dance America Adjudicator, Darren McIntyre: This piece was Brilliant! Everything was so well thought out with fantastic music, fabulous costumes, a talented cast and such an innovative and whimsical concept and idea! Very Entertaining! Reserved seating: raleighdance.org $20 + tax, $25 at the door while supplies last.
