The Boys Are Back
Dropkick Murphys 2022
Dropkick Murphys returns to Raleigh this year in support of their new album “This Machine Still Kills Fascists.” The album is in honor of Woody Guthrie whose family released unrecorded lyrics to make the LP.
We were wondering why this show was at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts and not Red Hat. This is an acoustic show, so they may have been aiming at a more personal atmosphere, not that it really felt like any other acoustic I have ever been too!
Missing from the line up was co-vocalist Al Barr who is taking care of his ailing mother. But Ken Casey was there with the energy to cover the full show.
The setlist covers mostly new songs with lyrics from Woody Guthrie whose works are still powerful and fitting for today's times. They also played older songs from their catalog of 11 albums like “Middle Finger” and “Rose Tattoo.”
The show was high energy and powerful, not the standard sit-down acoustic performance you would expect.
We love the arts. We write about them. Founded 2018.
